About the founders
Kane McDowell and Julie Haylett are the founders of Sugardough and Royal Pavilion Tea by Sugardough.
Kane started his career as an apprentice pastry chef in Melbourne before finishing his training a chef and working at some of Melbourn’s most highly-acclaimed restaurants.
In 2009 Kane and Julie opened Sugardough Bread & Cake in Hove combining Kane’s first love of baking with exceptional chef skills. Sugardough’s Restaurant was opened in Market Street, The Lanes in 2015.
Julie also runs Hove’s specialist food and drink bookshop, Cookbookbake.
